Boy, that post title could be talking about soooo many things. But today I am talkin' 'bout my super fun birthday weekend! My mouth fell open Saturday night and I still can't believe what I saw! I walked into my kitchen at 7:30 completely unaware that there were dozens of people in my house! "SURPRISE!" I think is what they said but it is all a blurr! Alan has never pulled off a surprise like this before. He said he started planning about 6 weeks ago. He asked my friend Jen Paris for help and boy did she! She kept food at her house (including my favorite Buttermilk Birthday Cake from the Dodo.) She planned on coming over and cleaning my house for the party (while I was out with Alan) and she kept me off the "scent!" I had absolutely no clue that anything was afoot. Boy, was I surprised! I don't think anyone took pictures, though. I would have loved to see my face! Thanks to all my friends and family for making my 40th birthday one I'll never forget!!! You guys are the very best friends a girl could have! (I CAN still call myself a "girl" right?)
(I'd like to think this is just a blurry picture. Truly it is the mass of smoke left behind after blowing out 40 candles!)
One funny thing, yesterday, Lilly kept crouching behind things and I would hear her whisper to herself "OK, say 'surprise Mom!'" and then she'd jump out and yell "Surprise!" It was adorable and it extended the fun to another day!

Hope your day was great - Lilly was darling on Sunday - telling us all about mom's surprise with vanilla cake and white frosting. Cute girl! Cute mom!
