girlfriends

I have always valued my girlfriends. I moved around a LOT growing up...always entering schools in the middle of the year...when people already had their "groups" figured out. That left me bopping from group to group never feeling left out but never feeling "in", either. So, I would find the girls that stood out of the group. Not the loudest or trendiest. I tend to like complicated women. Women that get mad, don't always look "put-together", think deeply about issues. I gravitate to these women. I am not as interested in their "resumes". I have found interesting women, that never went to college, that inspire me and make me think. I have dear friends that seem to have bottomless wells of service for those around them. I am inspired by the variety of interests, ideas, education, and hobbies of the women I am pleased to know. I like women that let you SEE them. No make-up, yelling at their kids, crying over the news, laughing til tears are flooding their cheeks.

I found this quote from Anna Quindlen.

"What I expect from my male friends is that they are polite and clean. What I expect from my female friends is unconditional love, the ability to finish my sentences for me when I am sobbing, a complete and total willingness to pour their heart out to me, and the ability to tell me why the meat thermometer isn't supposed to touch the bone."

Call a friend that inspires you today. Talk about nothing...or something deeply important. It's too easy to live our daily lives and forget what treasures are imbedded in our lives. Thank you to all my dear friends and the women that inspire me.

Wendy it's always fun to see you and last night was super fun. We do need to get together more regularly again.

What a nice tribute to women and especially girlfriends. I'm so glad we have reconnected and hopefully we can get together soon. (I need to plan my next Utah trip, I guess)
