No matter your politics...I hope today is special for you. I can't keep the tears back. I am so amazed at the moment I am witnessing. I know I cannot fully comprehend the pain, embarrassment, humiliation, loss of life/dignity, that black people have suffered for decades in our country. Just 9 years before my birth it was still "normal" for black people to have to wait for their own Greyhound bus since they weren't allowed to ride long distances with white folks. Amazing that we now have a black president! I am so pleased that my children won't ever know that they can't do something. They will have to be taught the lessons of the injustices...but they won't know them first hand. We have tried to teach our kids about Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream. We want them to believe that it is so important to look at a person's heart/actions not the color of their skin, texture of their hair, or their "status" in the community. Max said, "People keep saying I look like Barack Obama. I didn't know I looked like that." I responded that I guess people say that because you are half-black/half-white, too. "So I could be president?" "You can be anything." Imagine the children that are hearing that for the first time. Leaving politics out...this changes a whole heck of a lot. That's why I can't get this lump out of my throat.

It is awesome to have a black man as president!!! I wasn't thrilled for that black man to not be Republican at first, but I have to say that I have really liked some of things he has had to say. I pray everyday that he can make a difference!!! Someone has to!
Isn't it awesome?! I'm right there with you, that this is such an amazing step for our country...leaving politics out of it. I love the way you have phrased all of this, especially your conversation with Max that he can be anything. So true and it's so neat that we get to witness it!
OH and yes I have shed a few tears! It is awesome!
And I think Max would make a fabulous president.
It is an amazing and inspiring day.
