Because of surgeries, school, work, etc... we had not been able to visit my Dad and Step-Mom, in Idaho, for 2 1/2 years. We finally squeezed in a quick Saturday trip. Our visit was super short but it was full of fun. The kids loved visiting their farm where we were surprised to find the nest of duck eggs had just hatched that morning! We got to help move the babies from their nest (with their Mama) to my parents house (where my Dad made a pen for them in only about an hour!) Since then the kids have been watching a live video feed of those duckies, periodically. How fun that they can "visit" Grandma's and Grandpa's house virtually...keeping an eye on those new ducks.
It's always a treat to visit Idaho and see what new things my tinkerer Dad has built or rearranged. Really, he is never satisfied with the way his surroundings look. His backyard is always changing. It's charming, in a way. When I was little I remember we'd go to church (my Dad never came with us) and when we arrived home we'd find the entire main living space had been rearranged and redecorated. Hmmm....who else do I know like that? My poor husband. In fact, each of my siblings is this same way...we have a strong decorating, rearranging....whatever you call it....gene. We also all inherited a 'sarcasm gene' from our Dad. My Mom doesn't have any of these tendencies....especially the sarcasm. I have never heard one sarcastic word come out of her mouth. Funny how genes work.

Wow! Neat to see a pic of your dad after all these years. And kids and farms go together. Fun times!
