Swimming/life lessons

This was the first day of swimming lessons. Lilly's tiny/loud voice could be heard throughout the pool area. She screamed basically the entire time. "Mommy I need you!" "Mommy I need to go potty!" (ploy) "MOMMY!!!" Char can attest. We put our kids in private lessons together. Campbell did fine. Not a peep. Lilly hated it. Then, at the end, she calmed a bit. I mean the very end...like 2 minutes left. Since this picture was taken she has had 5 more lessons. She hasn't cried since that first. She is still a bit hesitant but she smiles now and is soooo proud of the bubbles she blows under water. "A thousand bubbles!" she says. Yesterday she went down the tube slide. Very scary. But she did it. We have talks about what bravery means. That you are truly brave when you do something that scares you. She seems to get it. She is proud of herself. And rightly so!

I can relate. Brielle cried through her first 3 lessons. Screaming at the top of her lungs and reaching out her arms at me (clear across the pool!) I thought everyone must think I'm a horrible mother! But I knew she was fine and she eventually (for the last 3 lessons) calmed down and actually enjoyed it =)

Sweet girl. I love her! Love your life lesson - my life is full of doing things that are scary. Thanks!
