Poor Char is stuck with me posting to my blog about how great she is. I get, on average 4 comments per post. I probably have about 15 people that look at my blog. That's ok. I don't want the world seeing my journal. BUT, Char has just under 1600 followers and ooodles and oodles of "lookers!" So, I should be posting this on her site so copious amounts of people will hear what I have to say. (go here)
If you have the pleasure of personally knowing Mrs. Coester you would use adjectives like "creative," "smart," "witty," "sarcastic," "generous," "interesting." Just to name a few. Around the "hood" she is known as the most famous person we all personally know. She is an extremely talented seamstress with a very cool sewing room. She opens her home up once a month for the underprivileged and sewing challenged to use her space, machines, and most important, her chocolate fountain. We sew, (ahem) and chat, and eat, and gossip, and watch each other create beautiful things. She also sews FOR anyone that asks. She has sewn a number of things for me. In fact, I generally show up on her doorstep with some fabric, a bedspread, an old robe and say "Make something for me!" And she does! I try to pay her. That is usually fruitless. I offer to give her decorating help. (She doesn't really need it.) So, I am left to posting nice, gushy words about her on blogger. I just wish more people could read my words.
Char is, right now, sewing burial gowns for premature babies. She politely posted on her website how you can help if you sew at all. She's a giver. Truly. Here are just a couple of her creations for me. This adorable baby doll stroller seat. She used an old bath robe of mine. Without a pattern! And the valances are just a reincarnation of curtains she had sewn for me a few years ago. I asked her to cut them down. She did. Without eye rolling.
So, I love ya Char. I'm proud to be called your friend. Even if you weren't famous. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For everything. <3

Wendy,
You put down into words what I always try and tell Char. However, you have the writing ability to make how I feel about her make sense. Char is to me all that you said and more! Thank you for writing this. I know Char does not like to hear it, but it is true! I tell her all the time I need a daily dose of Char. I ENVY her. Thank you to her for being who she is, and thank you for writing this. You are both GREAT women.
Hey...I fully intend to make you tell me what color to paint my main floor. And, you can take like 6 months to do it. ;)
I would like to be Char's friend too! Can I come to one of your sewing chocolate fountain parties?
Maybe I already count as a friend since she was there at our last scrapbooking party...:)
That was a lovely post about the famous Char! Sometime last year, one of my girls came home from a birthday party telling me about this gift that the birthday girl received that was from this girl that had this mom that was "SUPER CRAFTY and CREATIVE, not like you, mom, her mom is SUPER creative."
My girl was right to be dazzled...
Two things--yes, I did sew my slipcover for my chair (I used natural-colored duckcloth), and tulips are my favorite, as well...
Wendy,
I think you should make a new career out of writing. You say things very eloquently-and everything you said was very true!
we actually moved the date to may 21st. so it's a little over a month away
All I can say is Amen to that! Char has touched all our lives.
