Lilly arrived, 3 years ago today!

Lilly turned 3 today! She jumped in our bed, at 7:00 this morning, and said "Today is big! I have a birthday!" She was so excited and I worried that by 4:00, when her cousins and Grandma's and Grandpa would show up for a little cake and ice cream, she would be "over" the excitement, and a little tired. I was bracing for a melt-down. As I readied her cake and decorated the table she approached me. "I don't want a happy birthday party Mom. I don't want people singing Happy Birthday to me." She had a scowl. As people arrived she didn't talk much and didn't smile at all. She warmed up after a while. Playing with her cousin, Matilda, seemed to help a lot! She was game for nearly everything on the docket. She opened the mound of presents with a smile and gracious "thank you's." She loved every present she got and has played with every single one of them since her party ended two hours ago. She was a lovely "center-of-attention" and she didn't melt-down, not even a little bit.


Lilly had asked for a "pinkalicious" party (her favorite book.) I tried to duplicate the cute cupcakes from the illustrations. I was pleased with the outcome. And it was delicious, if I say so myself. The girls played a quick game of "pin the cherry on the cupcake." Fun was had by all, including the Mom and Dad. Max said it was too much girl stuff for him. He was AWOL for most of the party. Until cake eating was announced.
