The day started with Max waking me up at 5:12 a.m. I pulled him into my bed and he stayed still while I tried to sleep a little longer. No such luck. By 5:45 we woke up Lilly while Dad readied himself. As per tradition, the kids and I sit at the top of the stairs while Dad goes down to investigate whether Santa has indeed come. We wait silently, holding our breath, to listen for the bells. Alan rings the bell once if Santa didn't come and twice if he did. The pause between the bells seems like an eternity for the kids. Once that second bell is heard they race down the stairs. Lilly was still bleary eyed as she laid eyes upon her new doll house. She hasn't stopped playing with it. Max got the motorized scooter he'd wanted. It goes 15 miles per hour. I tried it. It was very fun!
Max was such an appreciative gift receiver this year. He's always been a good boy about gives but this year he exhibited a maturity we hadn't seen before.
Jack the cat got a new scarf (something he desperately needed) and a new mouse toy that he LOVES!
We had just a lovely Christmas. It was one of the best ever. It was just a quiet, peaceful day...no drama. Maybe it was the lack of sleep we all shared.
