Christmas '09 part one

The festivities seemed to start with our outing to the play "A Christmas Carol" at the Hale Center Theatre. My friend Jen, her daughter Addison, Max and I attended. What a fun way to get into the spirit of Christmas. Then, last Saturday, we went to a morning performance of the Utah symphony at Abravenal Hall. This is a perfect way to introduce your kids to the symphony. We loved every note. Although, Jen and I found ourselves transfixed on one of the high school choir members that was clearly sick and should have immediately sat down. She was a trooper and tried tried tried not to puke onstage. The choir was standing behind the large symphony and there were probably 50 choir members or more so she was hard to pick out of the crowd. She became paler and paler. We saw her hack into her sheet music holder more than once. But she kept going. Really a highlight of the performance. I don't have pictures of that, though.
Since we moved to Utah (6 yrs. ago) from Connecticut we have spent Christmas Eve with my family at our house and then Christmas day we travel down to Highland for dinner with the Ormsby's. Sorry for the blurry picture of Estee and Rick. I loved this picture of Estee, though.

Our Christmas eve was crazier this year than ever before. We missed my sister's boys, Alec & Jacob, but everyone else was there. Rick, my sister's boyfriend, is always a favorite with the kids. Max, especially, loved being beaten up by him with a foam bat. Uncle Brian looked fetching in Max's army guy helmet. Andy, my brothers oldest son, gave us a fantastic magic show. Ollie, Andy, and Robby attended this year. It is fun having them live so close now. Their mom, Judy, (Bob's ex-wife) went into labor Christmas night and had the baby the day after Christmas at 4 in the morning. Baby Vera will be invited to next years Christmas eve party. Shalee let her hair down and didn't eat one thing that was good for her :) Matilda was happy to get such a pretty doll from Grandpa Bob and Grandma CJ. And Mabel loved her pretty Snow White doll.
We ate and laughed. The best parties include those two elements. Can't wait for next year!
