Fun at Lagoon?

It was the Utah Downs Syndrome Association Day at Lagoon. Our sweet niece, Lauren, has Downs Syndrome. Her family lives in Idaho and we don't get to see them as often as we'd like. It was fun to spend some time with them. I have no pictures of Max because he ran in the boy pack. Uncle Dean took Max, Ethan, and Erik on the rides. Aunt Carrie, Jessica, and I took Lauren and Lilly on the baby rides. After being at the park for a half an hour, I convinced Carrie (she has slight motion sickness) to come on the 'Tilt-a-Whirl' with me. Those of you that know me know that I have motion sickness. It is pretty severe. I get slightly sick just backing out of my own driveway. I love (loved) the 'Tilt-a-Whirl'. As a kid I would do it many times in a row and not have too much trouble. I may get a bit queasy but it would pass quickly. WELL...not true this time. We got an especially lubricated car. We tried to hold still but that thing was hell-bent on spinning as fast as possible. Poor Lilly was crying...terrorized! Immediately I knew this was a regret. When the ride finally stopped, after what seemed like 42 minutes, I staggered off and found a bench to sit on. I was sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. For the next 2 hours I lay my head in my arms on a dirty amusement park table. My poor companions sat. I told them to go and have fun. Leave me. They refused. Lilly kept patting my shoulder and kissing my arm. Finally, I felt a bit better and saw the light at the end of the tunnel. It didn't take too long after that. I was up and moving. After dinner, Dean and Carrie switched places. Dean and I took the girls on a few more rides. Lilly fell madly in love with Uncle Dean. She flirted with him like I've never seen! By that time, my niece, Jessica, decided she would go off with some of the other teenagers and finally have some fun. She was invaluable in watching Lilly while I was out of it. I'm so glad Max had his fun cousins and Uncle to hang out with. He went on all the rides and loved every minute! I went on a second ride just before we left. The log flume. Lilly was so excited to go on the ride until we hit that precipice. The minute we bumped over that hill she screamed...horrified! After the fall, as we rounded the corner to the departure point, big tears streaming down her face, I tried to comfort her. I said, "Do you want to tell the people that it is too scary? That they should turn back?" She yelled, loudly, to the people waiting in line, "Don't do it!!!" They laughed. It didn't make her feel better. Alan didn't get to come with us. He got to hear all about it when we arrived home just before 10:00. Both kids fell, happily, into bed. A nice adventure on Max's first day of his school break.

Learn a lesson from this! We are too old to ride the Tilt-a-Whirl! I stick to rollar coasters and I'm fine!

Good times. Last time I was on a swing at the park I was sick for the afternoon. I don't know what happens between childhood and adulthood that causes the motionsickness to set in so quickly. Other than that it sounded like a great day.

Yeah, I would have told you not to go on it as well! Although it is my favorite ride but only if we get enough people in it so we can spin like crazy. I am sorry you got sick but sounds like the day was fun!

I hate spinning rides! I got sick once and I haven't tried them since. Looks like fun though!
