the "good" news

Last Saturday, I overheard this conversation between Max and our good friends, Andy & Leslie.
A&L: "So, did the Easter Bunny come to your house?"
Max: "Yup. AND he brought me two Lego Star Wars ships! I only wanted this one but he brought me another kind, too!"
A&L: "Wow. That Easter Bunny is nice!"
Max: "Yes...AND I am very good. Really. I am a really good person."
A&L: "Oh...really good, huh?"
Max: "Yep. #1-I have a really good heart. #2- I try to mind Mom and Dad. #3-I don't say bad words ever. Except when I get really mad and then I misplace my words."

Isn't he cute? He says the funniest things and uses big words in interesting (not totally wrong) ways!

We love our dear friends, Andy and Leslie. This pic. of them is after we "tie-died" our Easter eggs. (Thanks, Char, for the inspiration. They turned out great! You take 100% silk ties, dismantle them, put the bright side of the tie around the egg, wrap white cotton around the egg, boil in water/vinegar for 20 min. The pattern transfers to the egg. It is very fun to see what happens!) Andy and Leslie have been our friends for 16+ years (Alan's friends from High School). They actually remember cute things our kids say and do more than we remember them! I need to have them sit down with me and write all they remember! It is nice to have them in our lives. They love us, warts and all. Wonderful to have friends like them! Our kids call them "Uncle Andy" and "Aunt Leslie". The other day Max said, "Mom, why do we call them "Uncle" and "Aunt". They aren't really part of our family?" "Well, they are so close to our family they are just like family. In fact, they love us more than some of our family members love us! Sometimes people can feel so close to us and have a big part of our heart even when they aren't related by blood. It is sort of like adopting them." THAT he understood!
