I thought I would let you see some of our garden. This is our 4th summer in Utah and our yard finally looks like someone is putting it to good use. Alan built a cute little garden bed (that is totally how he describes it!) with stacked blocks. Max helped plant it and he has thoroughly enjoyed tending it. We have corn, adorable little watermelons, pumpkins, squash, peas, beets, zuccini, peppers, and tomatoes. Max was especially excited for the "Purple Carrots" to grow...sadly, no luck. Our fruit trees have lots of pears, plums, and apples. Our cherry tree didn't have a single fruit this year. We hear that has been a problem across the state. We have loved slicing then drizzling our beets with olive oil, salt and pepper then roasting them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 min. They taste like delicious vegetable candy.
Max is at this great age where he is able to do so many things on his own. He has consistently taken care of the garden and totally loves it. How happy!
I think, in one of the pictures you can see the big, green composter I gave Al for our 15th anniversary. I told him it was a symbol of all the s**t he's taken from me over the years! :) (I hope my Bishop doesn't read my blog.)
